Welcome to New York: Grand Finale

On Wednesday morning, Jon(my boyfriend)’s parents woke up early to go to the Today Show.  Unfortunately, I was tired and so were Jon and his little brother so we slept in a bit instead.  We totally missed out, because they did a 90s concert day and they got to see TLC sing “Waterfalls.” WHAT. I know.  Next time I am in New York, I will be waking up early everyday to go to the Today Show.

Moving on. The three losers got up and got ready and took the subway uptown to The Met.  You know you’re a Gossip Girl fan when you take a 30 minute subway ride to The Met before it opens, haha.  It was so cool to sit where Blair Waldorf sat all those mornings and where the celebrities walk every year to the gala.  I kept telling my boyfriend it was only appropriate that I see where Holly Golightly and Blair Waldorf had their breakfast every morning.  My only regret is I didn’t bring my croissant with me.

We met back up with my boyfriend’s mom while his dad stayed in the apartment to rest.  We went to the Adidas store in SoHo and they had super cute New York accents on their merchandise.  It was a really cute touch! I am not super into athleisure considering my workout is typically my walk to the fridge (hehe), but Adidas has a really cute collection right now!

After leaving the Adidas store, we took a stroll down the street into China Town and Little Italy.  It was a really cool area!  Of course, we had to get our New York pizza while in Little Italy.  We went to a place called Champion Pizza, and it was so good! We just got pizza by the slice.  I had the pepperoni pizza and Jon got the margarita pizza and we shared bites.  We both liked the pizza we picked better than what each other picked.

why do i take more pictures of food than anything else? moving on

After pizza we met back up with Jon’s dad and headed back into lower Manhattan.  We went to the Financial District and saw the Fearless Girl and the bull statues.  It was really cool to see the statues since they have been so discussed recently!  Unfortunately, they were really crowded, so I didn’t get any great pictures with them.

We then strolled down to the Staten Island Ferry, which is a free commuter ferry that goes right past The Statue of Liberty ( but not to it!) Life hack: everything online said to go to the left of The Staten Island Ferry when you get on to get a view of the statue. WRONG.  If you’re leaving Manhattan and heading to Staten Island you want to get on the right side of the ferry to see the statue. (Vice versa on the way back.) Another life hack: if you only plan on riding it one way, the better view is on the right side of the ferry on the trip from Manhattan to Staten Island.

After we got off the ferry we rode the subway to Times Square and walked to the New York Public Library.. It was more architecture than books to my surprise, but still very cool.

We went back to our hotel to rest for a bit,  but then left to grab dinner.  We went to Bubba Gumps in Times Square for dinner #touristlife.  Jon and I (literally) ran out while waiting on the food to arrive, to the NHL store to get him a Preds shirt the night before game 5. Obviously, we jinxed them!

We ended the week in New York by doing the Empire State Building Experience.  We got the tickets the observation desk on the 86th floor, and the view was amazing. I may have even gotten teary eyed.  Such a great end to a great trip.Processed with VSCO with f2 presetIMG_2416

We had the best trip to NYC!  This city is so alive of fashion, history, and art.  It has great food and great entertainment.. It is truly the city that never sleeps.  I’ve said it before, but if I could afford the move, I’d be jumping in head first!
