Anniversary Weekend in Atlanta

Jon and I celebrated three years together on June 12th! Time really does fly when you are having fun. Last year for our 2nd anniversary, we spent the weekend in North Carolina. We had been talking about going to a Braves game for a while now, so for our anniversary we decided to go to Atlanta to see a game!

We got to Atlanta around lunchtime and we were hungry. We were already downtown, so we decided to go to Gus’s for fried chicken. OMG, it was so good. I would literally eat it every single day if I could. I got the two piece white plate with baked beans and mac and cheese. Jon got the 3 tenders plate with baked beans and fries. We both really loved our food.

After lunch, we went to World of Coca Cola. Jon had never been before, but this was my third time going! I still really enjoyed it this time, and it is a must-do if you are Coke people like we are. The best part is the room where you get to try Coke from all over the world!

When we finished up at World of Coca Cola, we went to our AirBnB to put our things down and get ready for the game. Our AirBnB was seriously so cute, and I am ready to move in.

We went ahead and bought a parking pass when we got tickets to the game which I definitely believe is the right move. We bought the cheapest one, so it was a bit of a walk but totally manageable and we did not have to sit in traffic coming in or leaving. This was my first Braves game ever and Jon’s first time seeing them in their new stadium, SunTrust Park. It was definitely the nicest stadium I have ever been to, plus there are so many places around the park to eat and shop. It is really nice!

We got dinner at the concession stand and headed up to our seats. Despite being in the top section, we had really great seats to watch the game! Although I am not a big baseball fan, I really got into it! Unfortunately, the Braves lost to the Phillies 5-6. We still had a lot of fun at the ball field.

The next morning, we decided to go to brunch near our AirBnB, and ended up at Thumbs Up Diner. I got Lou’s Coffee and the Double Dip French Toast with sausage and tbh it changed my life for the better. The coffee is mixed with hot chocolate (!!!!) and now I believe that all coffee should be mixed with hot chocolate. The french toast was incredibly rich and delicious. I am ready to go back. Jon had blueberry pancakes and sausage and he really enjoyed his as well. This was my favorite meal of the trip.

We then went to the Krog Street Market, which is just a short walk from Thumbs Up Diner. It was so cute! Unfortunately, because it was a Sunday morning not all the shops were opened just yet. If we had more time, I definitely would have gone there for lunch. There were so many good food options in there, including Jeni’s.

We headed back home after our stop at Krog Street Market. I really enjoyed our trip to Atlanta. There are so many cool things to see, fun things to do, and good places to eat to fit into one weekend! We hope to get back to Atlanta really soon.
